SERVICES
24-hour Helpline
Every day of the year, 24 hours a day, callers will reach someone at CONTACT who will listen and provide emotional support. CONTACT’s trained volunteers answer calls from those who are troubled, lonely, and sometimes suicidal. Each call is an opportunity to make a difference in the life of someone in need of compassion and healing. All callers are treated in a respectful, dignified manner.
24-hour Information and Referral
CONTACT Beaver Valley provides referral information for callers. Referrals may include, but are not limited to, counseling services, housing, mental health crisis, and energy assistance.
CONTACT Reassurance
The CONTACT Reassurance program seeks to meet the needs of people who are isolated, living alone, shut in, ill, and/or handicapped. CONTACT volunteers place daily telephone calls at pre-arranged times to people in the community requesting the service.
The daily calls provide security; volunteers make sure the client is in reasonably good health and able to answer the phone. Just a few minutes of friendly talk let the client know that somebody cares.
Skills for Better Listening Course
A 24-hour training program is offered several times a year for people interested in becoming phone volunteers or people who wish to improve their communication skills. To date, CONTACT Beaver Valley has provided 53 Skills for Better Listening trainings with 445 people completing this training. See the Training page for more information.
Homeless Hotline
CONTACT Beaver Valley serves as Beaver County’s Homeless Hotline. CONTACT coordinates with government and social agencies in the county to readily identify support and services for any person experiencing homelessness, as defined by federal standards.
